COPTIMIZER:

Title software: Coptimizer – Copper reduction decision support system

Researcher: Daniele Prodorutti, Alberto Pellegrini, Ilaria Pertot

Partner(s) and place of activities: Yochai Gafni, Shoham Simon, Tsvika Kuflik - University of Haifa, Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Management Information Systems (Israel)

Scientific responsible of the project: Ilaria Pertot

SUMMARY or LIST of activities planned:

"Coptimizer" will function as web based decision support system. It will assist growers and advisors in optimizing and recording copper usage in a manner complying with EU regulations No 473/2002. The system will provide a visual and easy to use interface for the grower to manage his vineyards on a daily basis. In addition the system will assist the grower in performing mathematical calculations of copper solution concentrations and amounts.

The system will be divided into two parts: a web based decision support system that would allow growers to plan and record treatments along the growing season over the years and a web based system that would allow extension services to provide growers necessary weather information. Both parts are web based, therefore should be accessible anywhere under privacy limitations.

The system will be managed centrally at SafeCrop Center and will be validated in 2007 in two vineyards of Trentino.
