SCAPHOSING:
Brief description of the research project:
Development of a mating disruption device against the vine leafhopper Scaphoideus titanus Ball (Hemiptera Cicadomorpha), vector of the phytoplasma of the Flavescence dorée, by means of vibrational signal inputs.
Main used techniques:
Laser vibrometer (OFV 353 sensor head with OFV-2200 vibrometer controller or PDV 100, both Polytec GmbH, Waldbronn, Germany); anechoic and sound insulated chamber (Amplifon Fa., Amplaid, Italy); magnet vibrated by electromagnet.
Future research development:
Input of female’s playback signals to improve the disruption efficacy; adapt the method to the whole plant.
