Research

Some of the completed SafeCrop-projects:

Pathogen Control Research Unit (PC RU)

Project

Description

ARMI

Defence against the fungus Armillaria.

BIOSTRAW

Evaluating select microorganisms for use as biocontrol agents against strawberry powdery mildew.

DM GRAPE

Efficacy evaluation of biocontrol agents and others low impact products against downy mildew on grapevine.

Flying doctors

Distribution and colonization of apple flowers by a bacterial biological control agent through honeybees, osmias and bumblebees.

Powdery mildew strawberry

Use of microbial biological control agents in an integrated control concept against this fungal disease of high relevance which currently need a high fungicide input.

Insect Control Research Unit (IC RU)

Project

Description

BCA - Cross-effect

Reduction potential of the egg deposition by Cydias of biological control agents used against fungal diseases.

Pheromons - Hail-nets

Relevance of hail-nets on the control of Cydia pomonella. The concentration of the pheromones used in the control of Cydia through the sexual confusion is relevant for the success. This project aims at identifying possible differences and the relevance of such differences between apple orchards with and such without hail-nets.

Risk assessment, molecular tools and side effects of non chemical methods for control plant pathogens and parasite Research Unit (RAMT RU)

Project

Description

BCA-R&D risk

R & D of micro-organisms with a potential for BCA can carry various risks for the researcher and for the environment. This project analyses the R & D processes with the final aim of proposing protocols, which allow identifying and minimizing these risks.

Converging Sciences

Project

Description

Wine proof

"Wine proof" Software for pesticide and fungicide residues on grapes and wine:
The system is intended to avoid the use of some Active Ingredients permitted in Italy but not in the Country of destination (or Active Ingredients with "Maximum residue levels" smaller than in Italy).
The users (wineries) will know which Active Ingredients and Commercial Products they can use or not on grape to be able to export wine in a specific state.
At the beginning of the season the growers will be informed on products that they can use for treatments.
